National Service Scheme (NSS)
The National Service Scheme (NSS), a permanent student youth programme implemented in educational institutions is sponsored by both central and state government in the ratio 7:5.The motto of NSS is “Not Me But You”. The overall objective of NSS is development of personality of student-youth through community service. The NSS volunteers and programme functionaries involve themselves under regular activities and special camping programmes in order to achieve the objective of the scheme.
The Motto of NSS “Not Me But You”, reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service.
The symbol for the NSS has been based on the giant Rath Wheel of the world famous Konark Sun Temple situated in Orissa. The wheel portrays the cycle of creation, preservation and release and signifies the movement in life across time and space. The symbol thus stands for continuity as well as change and implies the continuous striving of NSS for social change.
Youth Red Cross(YRC)
The institution imparts the mentality of social service to students by involving them in various schemes like NSS and YRC. Such activities are not nascent but are in vogue since their inception in January 2004 with a humble strength of 50 students.
