National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning NPTEL

NPTEL has completed 12 years since inception and we have 850 web and video courses across 23 disciplines. We have begun the initiative of certification for these courses created in a phased manner, so that students may see tangible end result in the form of a certificate from the Centre for Continuing Education, IIT for their effort. The learning in Online certification is free and is open for anyone and everyone. There is an optional proctored certification exam that the student can take part at the end of the course to earn certificates from the IITs.

Our Central Library has facilities to view NPTEL programmes of Video Contents.Maintained separate Server to store and disseminate video programmes to students as well as faculty members.Student can be accessed by separate system and can be downloaded too.

National Service Scheme (NSS)

Introduced in 1969, the National Service Scheme (NSS) aims to develop the personality and character of student youth through voluntary community service, embodying the principle of 'Education through Service.' Rooted in the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, the NSS motto, "NOT ME, BUT YOU", reflects the selfless commitment of volunteers prioritizing the community over self.

Objectives of NSS:

NSS aims to foster the development of key qualities and competencies among volunteers, aligning with its core objective of 'Personality development through community service'. These include:

a) Understanding the community and their own role within it;
b) Identifying and engaging in solving community needs and issues;
c) Cultivating a sense of social and civic responsibility;
d) Applying knowledge for practical solutions to individual and community problems;
e) Acquiring skills in mobilizing community participation;
f) Developing leadership qualities and democratic values;
g) Building the capacity to respond to emergencies and natural disasters;
h) Practicing national integration and social harmony.

NSS seeks to establish meaningful connections between 'Campus and Community', 'College and Village', and 'Knowledge and Action'. The list of activities and snapshots of selected recent activities are provided in the links below.

Youth Red Cross(YRC)

The institution imparts the mentality of social service to students by involving them in various schemes like NSS and YRC. Such activities are not nascent but are in vogue since their inception in January 2004 with a humble strength of 50 students.

The Citizen Consumer Club – CCC

The Citizen Consumer Club of Panimalar Engineering College is an affiliated club to the Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection, Government of Tamil Nadu, which was established in the year 2010. The club has evolved its own objectives in aligning to achieve the common goal of the Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection, Government of Tamil Nadu. Objectives of the club: To educate children about rights of the consumers as provided in Consumer Protection Act, 1986 To mobilize youngsters by instilling in them the spirit of protection of consumer rights. To impart knowledge about the role of consumers in protection of their rights and to strengthen the consumer movement in India. The mission of the Club: To organize seminars, conferences, consumer-fest, competitions, publishing articles on consumer issues, etc., and will actively participate in various programs of the club. Club Membership : All the interested students, irrespective of their branch of study, are eligible to become a member of the club.

Remedies Available to Consumer

  • To remove the defect pointed out by the appropriate laboratory from the goods.
  • To replace the goods with the new goods of similar description, which are free from similar defects
  • To return the price of the charges paid by the complainant
  • To pay such amount as compensation to the consumer for any loss or injury suffered by the consumer due to the negligence of the opposite party
  • To remove the defects of deficiencies in the services in question
  • To discontinue the unfair trade practice or the restrictive trade practice or not to repeat
  • To withdraw the hazardous goods from being offered for sale
  • To provide for adequate costs to parties
