About the Department

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering started in the year 2001, is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for the period of 3 Years in 2006, and provisionally accredited for 5 Years in 2013.The Department has well qualified and experienced professionals with wide exposure in all aspects of the subjects they handle. Many faculties possess and pursue PhD are involved in research and consultancy projects.

The students of the department have consistently performed well in academics with 2 gold medals and 76 University ranks so far. In addition to academics, the students career is enhanced through training in soft skills, personality development and placement training classes.

The major recruiters of the department include Yamaha, Ashok Leyland, Mahindra, F.L.Smidth, MRF, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, CTS. Many students also pursue higher studies at reputed national and international universities. The students technical and organization skills are showcased by conducting national level Symposiums, National and International conferences and also by competing in various design and product development competitions. Students also take part in Industrial visits, In-plant training, Research and Industrial projects.

Dr. S. Selvi, M.E, Ph.D

Professor and Head of the Department of Electrical and Electroncis Engineeirg

She received Bachelor in Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University. She obtained her Master of Engineering in Power Electronics and Drives and Doctorate Degree from Sathyabama University, Chennai.

She has more than 20 years of teaching experience. Her area of interest are lightning and Industrial Drives. She has published several research articles in National /International Conferences and Journals.

The Program Educational Objectives of Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering are,

  • To prepare students to analyze, design and implement basic electrical circuits and power systems using the knowledge of basic science and mathematics.
  • To train students with scientific and engineering knowledge so as to comprehend, analyze, design and create novel products and solutions for real time problems.
  • To prepare students with robust knowledge in core engineering for the betterment of placement, research and higher studies.
  • To inculcate graduates with communication skills, leadership qualities in their profession and adopt to current trends by engaging in lifelong learning.
  • To prepare graduates to demonstrate professionalism with social and ethical values

  • Engineering knowledge:
    Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialisation to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • Problem Analysis:
    Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyse complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  • Design/development of solutions:
    Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  • Conduct investigations of complex problems:
    Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information

    Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
